The Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the boundary of Ningnan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. It is the second cascade hydropower station in the downstream of the Jinsha River, with the main purpose of power generation, as well as comprehensive benefits including flood control, sediment retention, improvement of downstream navigation conditions, and development of navigable reservoir area.
